The Kowloon City District Health Centre Express Weight Management Programme aims to provide comprehensive support for participants through health education, personalised assessment, and exercise guidance. The programme helps participants develop a sustainable healthy lifestyle, improve weight management, and enhance overall health.
Supported by a multidisciplinary team, the programme offers suitable advice and follow-up based on each participant’s health condition, lifestyle habits, and personal goals. Participants are encouraged to gradually develop balanced dietary habits, regular physical activity, and a healthier daily routine.
- Adults aged 18 or above;
- Individuals with a BMI of 23 or higher who are overweight or obese;
- Participants must first register as members of the Kowloon City District Health Centre Express.
Programme staff will conduct an initial assessment to understand each participant’s health condition, lifestyle habits, weight management needs, and exercise capacity. Personalised goals will then be co-created with participants, such as improving body weight, body fat percentage, muscle mass, dietary habits, and home exercise routines.
For individuals aged 70 or above, or those with chronic conditions, joint problems, a long-term sedentary lifestyle, or other health risk factors, the Centre will conduct a more cautious exercise safety assessment. Where necessary, participants may be advised to consult a doctor before joining the programme to ensure safety.
Eligible participants will first attend health education theory classes covering healthy living, behaviour modification, balanced nutrition, exercise, chronic disease prevention, and rehabilitation. These sessions aim to help participants acquire the basic knowledge and skills required for effective weight management and healthy living.
Afterwards, participants will join group exercise sessions. The multidisciplinary team will provide appropriate guidance according to each participant’s health status, fitness level, and individual needs, helping them safely and progressively increase their activity levels. Participants will also be encouraged to integrate exercise into their daily lives.
Upon completing the group exercise sessions, participants will undergo a follow-up assessment at least six months later to review changes in body weight, BMI, waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, blood pressure, and body composition. The Centre will provide suitable follow-up recommendations based on each participant’s health condition, needs, and assessment results.
